Lake Eufaula Ok News: Shotgun Training Education Program (STEP)
The Shotgun Training Education Program offers a comprehensive range of educational opportunities for learners as well as knowledgeable hunters with distinct prominence on teaching basic wing-shooting methods and essentials.
The program projects an optimistic image toward hunting and general reception of accountable gun ownership. Another significant purpose for the program is to grow youth curiosity in wildlife preservation and outside activities. In addition, the program exposes members to the use of a harmless shot to develop hunter self-confidence in lead-free shotshell substitutes.
History and Activities
The Department started the Shotgun Training Education Program (STEP) in 1995. Department personnel was provided training through the Cooperative North American Shotgun Education Program.
The STEP program conducts around one hundred different programs annually. These programs provide prospects to approximately 9,000 applicants.
